~ A Letter For John Hanson ~

Dear Mr. Hanson,

I would like you to know how I very much appreciate your presence in the show. This special event gave me cause to rejoice at the prospect of hearing your wonderful voice. The short time allotted I wish I could prolong recapturing the magic of 'The Desert Song'. The notes vibrate and echo in a most delightful way, the words are well chosen the tunes are bright and gay. 'The Student Prince' and 'The Vagabond King' follow close behind, uplifting and inspiring to the heart and to the mind. An evening to remember how could I forget when a great impression is so firmly set. God's gift to man is varied we cannot be the same, those blest with the gift of song receive the worlds acclaim. You bestowed an honour on this seaside town, most ardently I thank you,
Yours sincerely, Beryl Down.

~ Crowther's In Town ~

Dear Leslie Crowther,

I would like you to know I was very impressed with the excellent show. Your frolics were hilarious I laughed until I cried especially when Lupino Lane was standing by your side. Another little antic I never will forget, your attempt at  ballet dancing with Sheila Bernette. Larry Grayson's patter the skill of Pierre Bel a systematic juggler who performs very well. John Hanson and his colleagues took me back to 'yesterday' singing classic numbers in a most delightful way. Children love basil Brush and the grown ups love him too, I wish his clever master would arrange a rendezvous. The other entertainers I appreciate so much are Peter Hughes and the chorus girls who add the final touch. You have brought a wealth of pleasure to this seaside town, please accept my grateful thanks, Sincerely, Beryl Down.

~ The King Of Comedy ~

To say the world adores a tramp does not sound quite right, it offers little sympathy towards his sorry plight. One is an exception a character set apart we treasure his memory deep within our heart. His name is Charlie Chaplin he appeared on the screen in a pair of boots much too large and a black suit turning green. Complete with a bowler hat and a walking cane, his brilliant act of comedy will not be seen again. 'The Pilgrim' and 'Shoulder Arms' are a masterpiece of mirth he will always be regarded
as the greatest clown on earth.
