On 20th May 1938
Gracie went to St John's Gate, London, to receive another decoration.
The three pictures below tell a touching story.

|
Gracie is coming! The Little Old Lady wanted to see Gracie.
The policeman let her stand behind the arch. She had a peep round the
corner...... |
|
|
......Whiz! The big car swept past. Her
poor old eyes missed Gracie. But Gracie saw her. The car was
stopped - Gracie got out...... |
|
|
......"They giv' me this, luv,"
Gracie showed her.
It was the Order of St John of
Jerusalem.
Gracie was very happy and so was the Little Old
Lady.

When Gracie visited Newport, South Wales, in 1938
for a charity concert, the streets were packed solid with her
fans.

In July 1938 Gracie attended the Children's Fair at
Bedford College, London, where this happy picture was taken.

Another tumultuous welcome was accorded to
Gracie when in August 1938 she visited the Empire Exhibition at Glasgow.
where she rode on the 'Giant Racer' (below) with
