Gracie autographed this programme at a fundraising concert to support British War Relief at The Constitution Hall in Washington, DC on Saturday 1st November, 1941.

1941-This is one of a series of stamps commemorating the work of those who entertained the troops during the Second World War. Gracie was the only non-American star to appear.

Few people realised how big and sustained was Gracie's war effort.  Many of her lengthy tours of entertainment in overseas theatres of war were unpublicised - where the British boys went, Gracie followed. She was one of the first artistes to entertain the B.E.F. troops in France (above)

In 1941 Gracie came over from the U.S.A. to spend three months touring camps  and factories in England. At her first camp concert in this country twin brother privates of a Lancashire regiment presented her with the key to their camp.
