3rd August 1935

When 'Look Up and Laugh' was being filmed at Ealing Studios Lord Hewart, then the Lord Chief Justice, visited the set. The usually stern old gentleman was so charmed and amused by Gracie that he allowed this photograph to be taken.

In September 1935, Gracie performed one of those kindly acts for which she is so famous. She heard that a horse belonging to a young  greengrocer had been killed in a road accident. He couldn't afford another horse and his livelihood was lost. So Gracie bought him a new  pony and one night after the theatre she gave it to him. A passing pressman secured this picture.
