This section of the "ourgracie" website is dedicated to Keedie a young lady from Torbay, South Devon, England. 

You may be scratching your head and asking the question: why is this young lady Keedie included in a website mainly dedicated to the late Dame Gracie Fields! well, the answer is this:

Dame Gracie Fields was a superstar, perhaps the best-loved star the theatre has ever produced. A courageous woman, too, whose warmth of heart and kindness shone through the tinsel and cardboard of show-business. 

Gracie was a national idol with a singing voice of amazing range, she had natural raw talent that could raise the roof of any theatre. 

Gracie had this natural talent from a very early age and was determined to be a top class singer.

She was born to a working class loving family with sisters and brother who  encouraged and supported her in her quest for achievement.

Her mother and father gave up everything to enable her to pursue her career and she made it to the top - where she stayed for over 40 years.

She never allowed her exceptional success to change her. She remained open, down to earth, affectionate and generous with both time and money. 

Miss Beryl Down is an authority on the stars of the entertainment industry dating from the Music Hall days to the present day and there was one star who shone brighter in her eyes than any other - the late Dame Gracie Fields. There is now another bright star shining in Beryl's eyes who is a much admired close neighbour of hers:

Keedie "The little tot from around the corner", as Beryl puts it, has been a twinkling star in Beryl's eyes for many years and she has now proved to be - by sheer guts, determination and loving family support - a "Bright New Star" with all of "Our Gracie's" attributes.
