Gracie Fields was a Lancashire lass and George Formby was a Lancashire lad the cream of the variety stage, revived in recordings to impress the modern age. Pull up your chairs forget dull cares and listen intently to catch a glimpse of the 1930s when life flowed along more gently. George sang humorous songs 'My Little Stick Of Blackpool Rock' and 'Swimmin With The Wimmin' strumming away on his ukelele, 'I Love To Whistle' and 'The Umbrella Man' our Gracie sang so gaily. For those who dislike the rain she gave sound advise in this refrain. Sometimes grey days make us weary and nothing seems worthwhile, though it's difficult just keep cheery and say with a smile - I'm looking on the bright side though I'm walking in the shade sticking out my chest hoping for the best looking on the bright side of life.

~ The Spice Of Life ~

Gracie's comic songs were not her husband's choice he feared such frolics would ruin her voice. Opera style singing was his desire, a role in which she would quickly tire. Variety is the spice of life, eventually Boris agreed with his wife.

~ Evergreen Melodies ~

We capture the 1930s scene through the courtesy of 'Evergreen'. Fifty of Gracie's wonderful songs released on tape with a touch of comedy, these we have known and loved oh what ecstasy. Each time I hear her sing it adds a glow to everything. Spreading happiness she always aimed to do and her magic is still working for me and you. Filling our home with sunshine to make our spirit soar, when Gracie entered heaven she did not close the door.

~ At The Touch Of A Button ~

At the touch of a button I'm as happy as can be, memories of the old days came flooding back to me. When life was a song full of sweet melodies, from the heart of Gracie Fields sung in varied keys. 'Little Drummer Boy', 'How Deep Is The Ocean - how high is the sky', 'Sailing Home' and 'Gypsy Lullaby'. 'Giannina Mia', 'Smiling Through', 'The Chapel In The Moonlight' and 'My Love For You'. Expressed in golden notes that thrill, at the touch of a button it always will.
