All in Rhyme-The Life of Dame Gracie Fields

~ Fans and Friends ~

Gracie was as happy as can be greeting fans and friends in Capri. Finding time for a chat everyday in her own delightful way. Now and again she invited groups to tea, under a canopy on the terrace facing the sea. While others were keeping cool diving and swimming in her pool. Frequently cameras would appear to capture her smile as a souvenir. Capri is known as the magic isle and people still flock there, Gracie created the magic I do declare. To recapture the exuberance would be in vain, such joys will not return again.

~ The Memory Will Linger On and On~

A scrapbook is an item of interest much information it yields, especially the life of Gracie Fields. Press cuttings were collected and papers scanned for anything new, a stage performance or film review. Opening a fete, planting a tree and magic moments in Capri. Her records played in every Woolworth store people purchased by the score. It is sad those days have gone, but the memory will linger on and on.

~ The Jewel ~

It is sad she had to go when the nation loved her so, yet not entirely gone away because her memory will always stay. Like a jewel set apart in the casket of my heart.

~ All The World To Me ~

Now you have wandered away from the alley and me, I live on memories as sweet as can be. When skies are blue I'm beguiling and when they are grey I keep smiling. Gracie you were England's pride whether from home ground or Capri, your photographs and letters mean all the world to me.

~ Never Again ~

Gracie hit the high notes then she would croak and twist a rope of pearls around her neck in a mock choke. She did the funniest things she really was a scream all her performances were supreme. She turned a cartwheel across the stage made her audience laugh and cry it is a thousand pities such talent had to die.

~ Never Out of Range ~

The young generation were born too late to have known the warm, lovable, vulnerable personality that was Gracie Fields. All the magic she held for us swept away by the wind of change, but her famous name will never be out of range.

~ A Key Position ~

Gracie held the key to fill the world with ecstasy full of laughter and good cheer from the heart of Lancashire. Donated to the B.B.C. when she died in Capri. They release her records by the score, that is what she made them for.
