~ The Duke of Windsor ~

The Union Jack is flying it flutters at half-mast, a tribute to the present a reminder of the past. When the Duke of Windsor was free to raise his voice and declare his love for the woman of his choice. Thirty six years ago he was a reigning King with a full understanding of the duties it would bring. Despising court protocol and the rigid way of life he renounced the throne in favour of a wife. Banished from his country a sovereign set apart the Duchess reigned supreme as the queen of his heart. His death was announced on the twenty eighth of May the last rites were given in an honourable way. The conscience of the nation was put to the test, at home among his people the Duke was laid to rest.

~ The Duchess of Windsor ~

Your Highness is regarded with compassion and respect, you have shown tremendous courage, charm and intellect. Beneath a regal bearing lies a heart fond and true, as you face your darkest hour my thoughts wing out to you. Your husband has ascended to the throne in heaven above, blest with the assurance of your unfailing love. The ultimate fulfilment of your destiny, changing the course of English history. Memories will sustain you in the future years, bringing sweet contentment to counteract the tears and the realisation your task was not in vain, when the golden gates re-open you will meet again.

~ Love Story ~

I sent a message of condolence in nineteen seventy two when the skies above were no longer blue. It concerned the Duchess of Windsor the Duke had passed away I was not at a loss for kind words to say. I referred to her virtues devotion and loyalty though never accepted as royalty. Her Highness The Duchess was as far as protocol would go she vowed the truth would be published for all the world to know. In a book and national newspaper the 'Daily Mail' secured a prominent lead the event of her death gave the right to proceed. At the age of eighty nine she departed this earth the love story of the century found rebirth. Her body was flown to Frogmore to lie beside her husband's grave, I will always remember her as Wallis the brave.
